The Boston Globe: Scouts to host state’s biggest solar facility

The largest solar array in the state will be built on a reservation owned by a regional Boy Scouts of America organization in the central Massachusetts town of Rutland. The array, a 6-megawatt photovoltaic generation facility, will be built by Nexamp Inc. of North Andover. It will consist of roughly 20,500 panels situated on 30 acres at the Treasure Valley Boy Scout Reservation in Rutland. The energy to be generated by the facility is capable of powering 900 homes.

Worcester Business Journal: Major solar project launched in Westford

Boston-based Cathartes Private Investments has begun construction in Westford of what it calls the largest privately owned solar installation in the state.

The 4.5-megawatt, $22-million project will include more than 14,000 solar panels and is expected to be complete before the end of the year, according to Jim Goldenberg, principal at Cathartes.

It is the first renewable energy installation project for Cathartes, which has focused mostly on commercial real estate development projects throughout New England.

Two development companies have begun a $23 million project to convert a vacant industrial site in Westford into a solar farm that could generate enough electricity enough electricity to power about 600 homes.

Workers are preparing the 22-acre site for the planned 4.5-megawatt facility, which will consist of an array of 14,000 ground-mounted solar panels on Groton Road, near Route 3.
