Solar Thermal
Solar water heating, or solar thermal, systems utilize heat from the sun to pre-heat water that you use in your home. The major components of a solar hot water system include the collector panels, a storage tank, and a control pump. The panels collect heat from the sun year-round, even on cloudy days, and with a carefully engineered heat exchange system, transfer the energy into your domestic water. Your existing hot water heating system will continue to operate as before to guarantee no loss of thermal comfort. However, because our solar system preheats water before it reaches your tank, the majority of energy required to heat the water will come from the sun, not the utility company.
Solar thermal systems work amazingly well for year-round use in any environment.
As with PV systems, a proper site analysis is the first key step to success. Solar thermal systems require south-, east-, or west-facing roofs with minimal shade to work effectively. The size of the system is based on the size of the family. We generally design our systems to supplement from 50 to 75 percent of a home’s annual hot water needs.
Incentives make solar thermal a very cost-effective way to integrate solar power into your home.
We package all available incentives, including tax credits, utility rebates, and low-interest financing to simplify the process for our clients. Present incentives may cover up to one half of system costs.
Quality components and workmanship are the keys to long-term success.
We provide turnkey integration using only the most proven equipment and our own certified installers. We use the lessons learned from decades of solar thermal installations to offer you the most reliable systems available.
A well-maintained system will provide decades of clean energy.
Unlike your other appliances, solar thermal systems will actually create energy, not use it. Like your other home appliances, however, solar thermal systems require periodic maintenance to maximize energy production and extend their longevity. We provide support and maintenance for all of our systems during their entire lifecycles. This is our commitment to helping you become your own utility for life.
