Taunton Gazette: "City firm fueling solar power"

Taunton Gazette: "City firm fueling solar power" February 5, 2010. A Taunton-based company, partnered with a North Andover firm, has been awarded a share of a $20 million state contract to install solar power at a dozen public water and wastewater treatment facilities throughout Massachusetts, the Commonwealth’s the largest ever award for solar installations in public facilities.

Funded by federal stimulus money, the projects call for the installation of a total of 4.1 megawatts of solar energy and are expected to be completed between June of this year and July 2010.

Florence Electric of Taunton and its partner, Nexamp of North Andover, won the contracts through a competitive solicitation by the Department of Energy Resources. Link to Article

Governor Deval Patrick Salutes Nexamp's Dan Leary in "State of the Commonwealth" Address

Governor Deval Patrick's "State of the Commonwealth" Address - January 21, 2010. BOSTON, MASS- In his annual "State of the Commonwealth" address last night, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick called out Nexamp President, COO, and Founder Dan Leary's work as a shining example of what it means to invest in clean energy.

He said: "Investing in clean and alternative energy, or the life sciences and biotech, means Dan Leary, an Iraq War vet, can hire more people at his solar installation company in North Andover (I think he's up to 45 so far); and Randy Moquin can get trained, get off unemployment and go to work as an energy auditor out in Springfield; and Josh Hamilton can build a Center for Regenerative Medicine in Woods Hole and start to transform the future of human health." Wicked Local Acton: "Acton-Boxborough schools harness solar energy"

Wicked Local Acton: "Acton-Boxborough schools harness solar energy" January 11, 2010. ACTON, MASS- Workers were bundled up tight on the rooftop of R.J. Grey Junior High School in the windy, below-freezing weather, carefully sidestepping ice patches as they plated the roof with solar panels.

After five to six weeks of installation, the clean energy solutions company, Nexamp, expects the 506 panels to be up and running before the end of January, site foreman Pat Kincaid said.  The company is currently installing a solar array on top of the high school as well, and plans to work on Douglas Elementary School during the summer.

JD Head, the school district's director of facilities and transportation, said the cost savings will be effective immediately.  "When it's all said and done, the town of Acton will have half a million kilowatt hours [sic - actual is kilowatts] of clean  energy," he said, including the town's plan to install solar panels on the Forest Road highway shed.Link to Article

The North Andover Citizen: "Solar panels eyed for NAHS"

The North Andover Citizen: "Solar panels eyed for NAHS" December 10, 2009. If the town gets the $103,846 state grant submitted last Friday by Community Development Director Curt Bellevance, 90 solar panels will be installed on the North Andover High School.

Dan Leary, president of Nexamp, the North Andover-based company that will install the array if the grant is awarded, calls it a great project for the school.  Leary says the installation will only take about two weeks, and can be accomplished while school is in session.  The solar panels will be installed on a large flat roof area at the school using a patented PanelClaw system to attach them. The Boston Globe: "Changes that pay"

The Boston Globe: "Changes that pay" December 6, 2009. For his retrofit, Pricejones has contracted with Nexamp in North Andover to install 25 solar panels on the roof, estimated to produce 5.25 kilowatts of electricity.  "With a few additional upgrades, that should take care of 100 percent of my electricity and my tenants'," he says.  With rebates and credits from the state and the federal government, he estimates that he'll pay only $16,500 -- less than half the installed cost of $36,700.
