Turning a Warehouse into a Green Energy Asset

When Leewood Realty decided to upgrade its 40-year-old warehouse, it set out to convert what was once used for heavy manufacturing to one of the region’s most energy-efficient facilities. The 1,166-panel array on the new 54,000-square-foot roof was a major component of the green improvements, which also included motion sensor lighting, window replacement and low flow bathroom fixtures. Over the project’s expected 25-year lifetime it will offset more than 15 million pounds of carbon dioxide.Leewood Realty is currently planning an expansion of this project with Nexamp.

Nexamp provided the turnkey solar solution, including the design, building and the ongoing maintenance of the solar plant, as well as handling the energy sales. The results have exceeded my expectations. The project came in on budget and ahead of schedule and is now providing 95% of the electrical needs of my anchor tenant, Swix Sport USA.
