ACTON, MA – School officials at Acton-Boxborough Regional School District and Acton Public Schools have launched a new school year with three solar photovoltaic arrays – totaling almost 300 kilowatts of solar capacity – operating atop school buildings. Together, the arrays will produce about 300,000 kilowatt-hours annually – enough to power 35 average Massachusetts homes and offset over 500,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per year. Over 20 years, the schools expect to save well over $400,000.
