Zaid serves as Nexamp’s Chairman and CEO, providing the vision and leadership to drive the company’s continued growth and innovation. Before joining the management team, Zaid oversaw Nexamp as a General Partner at venture firm Point Judith Capital.

Previously, Zaid worked at Good Energies, where he was elected a Kauffman Fellow and focused on investments in next-generation energy efficiency technologies—including Nexamp, 3TIER, Emergence Bioenergy, Everpower, and Kalpan in India. Zaid joined Good Energies from Harbourvest Partners and was previously an investment banking analyst in Credit Suisse’s Technology Group.

Zaid holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and an MPA from the JFK School of Government at Harvard University. At Harvard University, Zaid was selected as a Zuckerman Fellow. He has an AB in International Relations and Economics, with honors and Phi Beta Kappa, from Brown University. Zaid has served as a judge and mentor for the New England Cleantech Open and has served as guest faculty member for the Pennsylvania Power Law Conference hosted by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Zaid currently serves on the boards of SEIA, NECEC and Vote Solar.

Chris originally joined Nexamp in 2008 as Director of Advisory Services where he lead the energy efficiency consulting business from a single employee to a national consultancy prior to its successful sale to Retroficiency in 2011. He assumed a leadership role on Nexamp’s development team shortly thereafter.

Prior to Nexamp, Chris managed the Community Wind Initiative at the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust. Previously, at XENERGY and KEMA, he provided consulting on energy efficiency and renewable energy strategy, policy, and project development.

Chris received his M.S. in resource policy from the University of Michigan and holds a B.S. in geology from Denison University.

In early phases of his career, Brad worked in applying automation to accounting, library operations, tax preparation, air travel, digital preservation, email marketing, manufacturing costing, and HVAC optimization. Brad serves on the boards for the Northeast Clean Energy Council and the Environmental League of Massachusetts.

As Chief Strategy Officer, John is responsible for the advancement of Nexamp’s market-driven growth initiatives, targeted market expansion assessment, and long-term product evolution. Currently, he oversees the implementation of multiple core corporate initiatives, including M&A, project acquisitions from a growing network of channel partners, and regulatory engagement across the Company’s active project development markets.

John joined Nexamp in 2009 and supported a variety of business units prior to joining the executive team, including market development, energy sales, asset management, and project finance. He was also responsible for the internal development and launch of Nexamp’s industry-leading community solar product offering.

John earned his B.A. from Colby College. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Solar Energy Industries Association.

Previously, Chris worked in Home Depot’s corporate headquarters and field operations group where he held multiple management positions.  In addition, Chris served for over 21 years as an Army infantry and combat engineer officer participating in operations in Kuwait, Bosnia, and Kosovo; he retired from the military in 2018.

Chris earned a B.S. in economics and systems engineering from the US Military Academy at West Point and a MBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Kelly holds a law degree from George Mason University School of Law, a master’s degree in political science from Suffolk University, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of New Hampshire. She lives in Massachusetts with her husband and their two sons.

Vice President, Policy and Regulatory Affairs

Kelly Friend serves as Nexamp’s VP of Policy and Regulatory Affairs, having served in this position since April of 2018. She leads Nexamp’s policy-related efforts, shaping and advancing Company and industry engagement within legislative and regulatory processes across key clean energy markets. Kelly works closely with Nexamp’s project development and finance teams to anticipate policy-based risks and develop strategies to execute on emerging opportunities.

Prior to joining Nexamp, Kelly spent three years as a member of GE’s Government Affairs and Policy team in Washington D.C. She managed global government affairs for GE Hitachi, coordinating regulatory engagement and advocacy for GE’s four electricity businesses.

Before GE, Kelly worked for Keller and Heckman in Washington D.C. as an associate in the firm’s chemical control, pesticides, and workplace safety practice groups. At Keller & Heckman, she assisted companies in navigating the complex set of environmental, health and safety regulations that govern the manufacture, sale, and use of chemicals.
