Kendall Hatch, August 12, 2010. The man in charge of overseeing the distribution of federal stimulus money in Massachusetts says he’s impressed with Ashland using its share to fund energy- and cost-saving improvements.

Jeffrey Simon, director of the Massachusetts Recovery & Reinvestment Office, stopped first at the Department of Public Works building on Ponderosa Road and then at the Howe Street Water Treatment Facility to see the fruits of the $486,000 in stimulus funding awarded to the town for energy improvements.

The cash was used to install a 120-panel solar array on the roof of the DPW building as well as replace and improve operations and efficiency at the treatment plant. [Nexamp note: This project is one of the 12 water/wastewater treatment plants for which Nexamp and Florence Electric are installing solar arrays.] Link to Article
