Nexamp, a Boston-based national solar energy company, has expanded its executive team with the hiring of Rick Whisman to serve as Vice President of Business Development for the West Region. Rick will lead Nexamp’s solar and storage development efforts in California and other West Coast markets.

“We jumped at the opportunity to add a dedicated professional of Rick’s caliber as we leverage our expertise in distributed solar to further grow Nexamp’s presence in the California market,” said Chris Clark, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Nexamp. “California’s expansive clean energy and climate objectives have made the state a strategic priority for Nexamp’s successful business model. Rick has deep knowledge of this market and will be an invaluable part of our long-term growth in the region.”

Whisman comes to Nexamp from OnSwitch, a service platform connecting commercial building owners with solar energy solutions, where he served as Vice President of Sales. Previously, he focused on solar and energy storage microgrid projects for EnSync and spent over a dozen years with SunPower and PowerLight. His 20-year background in solar development and his extensive relationships in the region make him well-suited to lead Nexamp’s West Coast team.

“I’m incredibly excited to take on this new role with Nexamp and look forward to spearheading the company’s efforts to expand its footprint on the West Coast. Nexamp’s track record and commitment to working collaboratively with communities, property owners, and energy users throughout all phases of the project lifecycle are a key differentiator from other market participants. I am ready to start securing opportunities that will further our national leadership presence in the clean energy space,” said Whisman.

Supported by majority shareholder Mitsubishi, Nexamp is uniquely positioned to develop, structure, own and operate solar generation and storage assets that serve one or more customers at a single site or across multiple locations. With more than a decade of experience in the market and hundreds of solar and storage projects in operation and under construction nationwide, Nexamp is committed to building the future of energy so it is clean, simple and accessible for everyone.
