Nexamp has been named the Large Business Leadership Award recipient at the 4th Annual Illinois Clean Energy Champion Awards, which honor organizations across the state that are creating good-paying, equitable clean energy jobs. Presented by the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, with Crain’s Chicago Business as media partner, the awards celebrate the transformative impact of the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA).

As Illinois’ largest community solar provider, Nexamp has more than 50 projects in operation and nearly 100 more under construction, generating nearly 700 MW of clean energy—enough to offset the power needs of 100,000 average households. Since CEJA’s passage, the company has created over 80 new Illinois-based jobs and is on track to support nearly 4,000 jobs statewide through construction, operations, and workforce development efforts.

Nexamp’s proven commitment to equitable workforce development was a key factor in the award. Through programs such as the City Colleges Fellowship, Solar Sunrise, and the Nexamp/Microsoft STEM Fellowship, the company provides paid training and hands-on experience for students and early-career professionals—over 95% of whom identify as Equity Eligible Persons. Nexamp partners with more than 50 community and education organizations to align these opportunities with real project needs across Illinois.

“This recognition affirms what we believe deeply—that the clean energy transition must be built with and for the communities it serves,” said Marion Jones, VP of Workforce Development and DEIJ Engagement at Nexamp. “We’re proud to create pathways into family-sustaining careers and ensure that Illinois’ clean energy future is inclusive, equitable, and accessible to all.”

In addition to its extensive presence in Illinois, Nexamp is the nation's largest community solar company.
