“Where do I start?” is one of the most common questions we wonder when it comes to taking climate action or leading a sustainable lifestyle more in harmony with Earth. We are entering a new era where climate action needed to happen yesterday – we don’t have the luxury of waiting. So, what can we do? How can we act? There are many ways to take action as individuals this Earth Day, but at Nexamp, we’re also taking action as a business.

This year, Earth Day’s theme focuses on engaging people, governments, institutions, and businesses who participate in Earth Day to recognize our collective responsibility and help accelerate the transitions to an equitable, prosperous green economy for all. At Nexamp, this means dedicating our time, resources, and energy to the communities in which we live and work.

Here’s a look into our Earth Week across multiple locations:

Boston

  • Cleanup at the Commons
Parks are high-traffic areas in most cities. This means that trash is bound to show up. This year, the team is hitting the Boston Commons for a lovely jaunt in the park, where we will be conducting a cleanup.
  • Fenway Victory Gardens
A few folks from the Boston office will tend to the Fenway Victory Gardens in Boston for our fifth volunteer visit to enjoy the sunshine and get their hands dirty by getting the garden plots ready for the spring and summer crops.
  • Muddy River Cleanup and Charles River Cleanup
Approximately 80% of ocean plastics come from mismanaged waste on land that ends up in our waterways, causing harm to wildlife and physical habitats. Nexampers, in partnership with the Charles River Watershed Association, will comb up and down the shorelines of the Charles River for trash and debris.
  • Million Pieces of Plastic
Hosted by the Sierra Club Massachusetts, the team will join the MA community in submitting images to a map documenting plastic pollution in our state to help bring more people into the fight to stop the oil and gas companies from continuing to accelerate the plastic crisis. Chicago

  • Lincoln Park Conservancy
Big shoutout to our Nexampers from the Chicago office, who kicked off Earth Week by going to the Lincoln Park Conservatory for a fun and productive litter pick-up around the North Pond Nature Sanctuary. Great job, team!

DC

  • Team DC will join Anacostia Watershed Cleanup at Kingman Island.

Haverhill and Lawrence

  • Tattersall Farm
Our Haverhill and Lawrence teams are helping Tattersall Farm with various activities around the farm, from clean up efforts to getting the gardens ready for spring and summer. We’re proud to see our Nexampers make use of their service day to make a difference in their communities.

Like Earth Day, we’ll come together on other service days to listen, learn, and take action. Because we believe service days are integral to who we are as a company and who we want to be.

Happy Earth Day!
