Consisting of 11,205 solar panels, Amherst-Montague Road Solar + Storage is the largest solar farm in the town to date. With all the groundwork completed by a local contracting firm, this project brought additional revenue to the community and will continue to provide significant energy cost savings for hundreds of community solar subscribers over the coming decades. The site is also equipped with a 2.0 MW / 4.3 MWh battery energy storage system, which enables the state of Massachusetts to receive renewable generation during times of high electricity demand. The project delivers power through the Massachusetts SMART program, but also participates in the Massachusetts Clean Peak Program, as well as ISO-NE wholesale capacity and ancillary service markets.
