The western Illinois town of Carthage, not far from the Mississippi River and along US-94, is home to HWY-94 Sun, a 7.7 Megawatt community solar farm featuring 13,350 domestically manufactured solar modules. It generates 7.7 Megawatts of electricity and sends it to the Ameren utility grid. This community solar farm produces enough renewable energy to offset the needs of 1,000 or so average households. Residents can participate by enrolling in the Nexamp program, yielding annual savings on their electric expenses.
