Leaf River, a small village in northern Illinois, is the site of Leaf River Solar, a 5.6 Megawatt community solar farm comprising 9,600 American-made bifacial solar modules and a tracker mounting system that enables the modules to follow the sun throughout the day for maximum efficiency. The project sends energy directly to the ComEd utility grid and residents who get their electricity from ComEd can enroll in the Nexamp community solar program to realize savings on their annual electric expenses. This farm is capable of offsetting the energy needs of approximately 800 average households.
