Project Overview

Kalaoa A and Kalaoa B (collectively The Kalaoa Solar Project), developed by Nexamp Solar, LLC, proposes to finance, construct, own, and operate the facility under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement with Hawaiian Electric. The energy systems will each consist of 4.3 megawatts (MW) DC of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation capacity using FTC Voyager single-axis tracker racking and both will be connected to a 3.4 MW / 13.7-megawatt-hour (MWh)Tesla Megapack 2XL Lithium-Ion Battery Energy Storage System (“BESS”).
The Kalaoa Solar projects will also be a part of the CBRE low to moderate income (“LMI”) shared solar program, meaning that community members who meet certain LMI income requirements will have the opportunity to enroll in a share of the project and receive a discount on their utility bills.

The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is also capable of Black Start (delivering energy to the grid in the event of a system-wide blackout or other disruption.)
